The lack of infrastructuras, the corruption and the struggles for the power to the Council, in a time in which the entire country was mobilized against the Dictator, it gave place in Santa Coloma to important local fights, getting for this the appellative of "red" city.
This book refers to this and other topics. Santa Coloma constitutes an interesting example of city bedroom, object of study during Franco's regime. It suffered to the immediate postwar period the hard exile, the repression and purification of its inhabitants, with executions of many prominent figures emphasized by that one the last mayor during the Republic. The urban speculation and the big business under the protection and complicity of the municipal politicians, characterize a long period that, initiated in the 60s with a big migratory wave without precedents due to the development of the epoch, form a city bedroom that from the urban, economic and social point of view, presents very particular characteristics.
